Received: 26 July 2011 Accepted: 17 July 2012 Abstract Background and Aim: Lack of appropriate seal is one of the major problems in composite restorations. Properties of the bonding system can play a crucial role in sealing ability of these restorations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the microleakage of class V composite restorations with varying irradiation times for curing dentin bonding agents using two different curing devices. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 60 intact extracted human molars and premolars were subjected to standard class V cavity preparations. Cavities were divided to six groups. Following etching, Excite bonding agent was applied and light cured using QTH and LED systems for 20, 30 and 40 seconds and cavities were filled with composite. The filled cavities were subjected to 3000 thermal cycles with 5-55 ° C temperatures. Teeth were immersed in 0.5% basic fuchsine dye and sectioned occlusogingivally from the restoration middle area and the microleakage was determined using stereomicroscope by a 5-scaled ranking. Data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests with p < 0.05 as the level of significance. Results: No leakage was found in enamel margins. The type of light curing device did not have any significant effect on dentin margin microleakage (p>0.05). Furthermore, no significant differences in microleakage scores were observed in the restorations irradiated with different curing times (p>0.05). Conclusion: QTH and LED curing units in 20, 30, and 40 s curing time did not have any significant effect on microleakage of class V composite restoration margins.

Effect of Three Light Curing Protocols and Load Cycling on Microleakage of Class V Composite Restorations
Objective: Different methods have been suggested to overcome the polymerization shrinkage of composite restorations. Changing the light curing protocol to improve polymerization by using new light curing units is among these methods. The new devices are more efficient, portable and durable and produce less heat. This study aimed to assess the marginal microleakage of class V composite restora...

Statement of Problem: Recently, investigators have presented new methods to reduce polymerization shrinkage of composite resin restorations. It is claimed that more powerful light cure systems associated with a change in radiation patterns, lead to improved mechanical properties and reduced microleakage. Purpose: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of two curing systems, kn...

AIM The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of application techniques (with pre-curing vs without pre-curing) for dentin adhesive on microleakage and marginal adaptation of indirect composite veneer restorations. METHODS AND MATERIALS A total-etch bonding system, Excite/Variolink II (EXV), and a self-etching primer system, Panavia F2.0 (PF2), were used in the study. Forty...
